The WEASEL error code is an all-encompassing error message that is usually an indicator that you are experiencing a general networking issue. Please follow our Network Troubleshooting Guide to work through possible solutions to your issue.
We strongly recommend switching from WiFi to a wired connection, at least temporarily. This is an important first troubleshooting step to rule out WiFi signal strength/stability as a possible culprit.
If you've experienced this error code and can no longer launch Destiny, please power cycle your console.
- This can be done by holding the "Power" button for 5 to 10 seconds, until the console resets.
WEASEL is a split-off error that was previously grouped under CENTIPEDE. This split helps expedite investigations and fixes and will be easier to understand the specific issue the player is experiencing.
In rare instances, WEASEL errors can also indicate one of the following situations may have occurred:
Cross Save does NOT cause WEASEL errors. Players who attempt to log in to multiple platforms simultaneously while Cross Save is enabled on their account will receive a WEASEL error on which ever platform they logged in on first.
If a player is in an activity when a ban is applied to their account, they will be returned to the title screen with a WEASEL error.
