Summary
The Director screen is how you’ll navigate into all the different parts of the game. Whether you’re going to play a new activity, take a trip to the Tower to speak to NPCs and pick up quests, or are trying to claim your rewards pass, you’ll use this menu.
Destinations
Destinations are a foundational part of Destiny, whether you touch down briefly for a Public Event, roam areas for patrols and secrets, or find various factions moving against each other. Our first steps as Guardians were in the Cosmodrome and beyond that we've spent over a decade patrolling the wilds of our Sol system to protect the Last City.
This is a list of currently available destinations:
- Tower (Earth, main social hub)
- European Dead Zone, or EDZ (Earth)
- Cosmodrome (Earth)
- Nessus
- Dreaming City
- Moon
- Europa
- Eternity (Unknown Space)
- Savathun's Throne World (Mars)
- Lawless Frontier (Mars)
- Neptune
- The Pale Heart (The Traveler)
- Kepler
Rewards
Most destinations in Destiny 2 have unique gear to earn as well as weapons unique to what's called the World Loot Pool that's earned through Legendary engrams that drop from general gameplay activities.
You primarily earn Destinations loot through Public Events. Base completion will grant Tier 3 rewards and Heroic Tier 4, with each drop having a chance to upgrade all the way to Tier 5. During a Distortion, these rewards will be upgraded by one tier to match the added challenge.
Unique destination activities like Blind Well, Altars of Sorrow, or Terminal Overload will also distribute tiered rewards (full details in the patch notes).
Distortions
On top of the other Activities that you can complete on Destinations, each one of them has a rotating special type of Public Event called Distortions.
Every hour, a different destination becomes the focus of Distortions. The sky tears open, reality distorts, and corruption spreads. While distorted, the planet's enemies are empowered and more fearsome. Every enemy will become distorted too, making them tougher, more aggressive, and a little more dangerous.
Distortions don't massively change the low-stress nature of patrol zones but you may occasionally find an encounter that tests the skills of even veteran Guardians. You'll also discover some familiar challenges in new places and some strange signals leading to hidden rewards.
Portal Ops
At the bottom of the Director, you will find Portal Ops, a hub where you can quickly find the content you want to play. Portal Ops use a unique scoring, difficulty, and customization system that allows you to earn high tiered gear for your efforts.
When you are ready to jump into a Portal activity, you can select a difficulty and aim for a specific Reward Rank and Reward tier. The table below helps illustrate what reward tier to expect from each difficulty and reward rank.
| Difficulty | Reward Rank | Reward Tier |
| Normal | C | Tier 1 |
| Advanced | B | Tier 2 |
| Expert | A | Tier 3 |
| Master | A+ | Tier 4 |
| Grandmaster | S | Tier 5 |
| Ultimate | S+ | Tier 5 |
More information about Portal Ops can be found in our Activities article.
Seasonal Hub
In the Seasonal Hub, that you can open through the Portal Ops screen, you’ll see a list of daily and weekly challenges. These provide rewards for you that will help you grow your character’s Power. This is where several other activity hubs are, which all have their own set of tasks, quests, and rewards.
Overview
- This tab shows you all the daily and weekly challenges you can complete, as well as their progress and all the rewards you can collect such as XP, Bright Dust, and other currency rewards.
Vanguard Alerts
- Vanguard Alerts allow you and your fireteam to complete a range of activities available to players at all skill levels for rewards that will help you progress in the game. Activities include different playlists, as well as new raids and dungeons.
- There are simple Vanguard Alerts, Arena Vanguard Alerts, and Crucible, which are simple and swift options to play some PvE and earn rewards. If you’re looking for a challenge, Grandmaster Vanguard Alerts are a great way to challenge yourself and your fireteam while earning some awesome rewards for your time and effort.
Conquests
- Want to test your mettle and earn some high-tier loot? Seasonal Conquests are for you. These difficult conquests are curated challenging endgame activities, with escalating difficulties that have fixed modifiers and offer significant rewards for first-time completion. Once you complete all the conquests available, you can head over to the Seasonal Title tab to claim your hard-earned Conqueror Title. Quests
This is where all your active quests will be logged. This is helpful to keep track of where you’re at in the story, which side-quests you’ve progressed, and to easily track seasonal quest progress.
Rewards Pass
Seasonal Ranks are available to all players and allow them to unlock rewards by playing Destiny 2 and earning XP. Each rank requires a certain amount of XP to unlock.
There are two tracks of a Seasonal Rank: Free and Premium. The Free track is available to all players regardless of what Destiny 2 content they own, whereas the Premium track is only available to players who own the current Rewards Pass. The Premium Track gives players access to rewards earlier than the Free track, with some rewards being exclusive to the Premium track.
You can read more about the Rewards Pass, at the Rewards Pass, Ranks, Artifacts and Mods article here.
Store (Eververse)
Run by the merchant Tess Everis, who runs the Eververse shop; it’s the go-to place to acquire unique cosmetics. Armor ornaments, emotes, ships, sparrows, and shaders are all purchasable for Silver (acquired using real-world currency) or Bright Dust (earnable in-game currency).
You can also find the Eververse store by going to the Tower and speaking to Tess in the blue booth to the left of the main Tower spawn.
