With the start of Year 8 in Destiny 2 on July 15, 2025, certain items will be deprecated from player inventories that correspond with vaulted destinations, activities, and campaigns and moved into the Destiny Content Vault.
Below is a list of items, quests, and currencies that will be automatically removed from player inventories or no longer have value at the start of Year 8. For information about Year 8 destinations, narratives, activities, exotic quests, and vendors, view our Destiny Content Vault article.

- All Bounties, Missions, Quests, Engrams, Seasonal Heirlooms, and Artifacts from Episode: Echoes, Episode: Revenant, Episode: Heresy, and The Rite of the Nine
- All Ritual and Pinnacle Weapons and associated Ornaments from Tower Vendors (the gear will become available in the Monument to Lost Lights Exotic Archive)
- Destination Materials
- While they have not dropped from resource nodes since The Witch Queen, destination materials in player inventories will no longer have value and can be safely dismantled when Year 8 begins. These materials will not be automatically removed from inventories.
- Upgrade Modules
- May still drop from older content, but can be safely dismantled for resources when Year 8 begins.
- Tower Vendor Reputation Tracks
- The volume of currencies and rewards previously available from these rank reputation tracks will be shuffled back into activity completions and The Portal.
- Ritual Activity Engrams
- Trials of Osiris and Gunsmith Bounties
- Gunsmith Engrams
- Ghost Mods
- Armor focusing mods with the old armor stats will be replaced to accommodate Armor 3.0 stat archetypes.
- Prism Harvest, Modularity, Prosperity activity mods.
- Episode: Heresy minor boons.
- Planetary Piston Hammer
- Tonic Capsule and all Tonic variations
- Tome of Want and Scriptures
- Metastasized Essentia
- Essence of Desire
- Sigil Shards
- Curio of the Nine
- Nonary Manifold
