Legacy Support for Destiny 1 FAQ

Destiny 1 will no longer receive planned game updates or content. Destiny 1 content through Destiny: Rise of Iron will continue to be available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Consoles. Please see below for a list of frequently asked questions regarding Legacy Support for Destiny 1.

Account and Character Migration

In preparation for Destiny 2, all existing Destiny accounts automatically underwent an Account and Character Migration process on August 1, 2017. This process prepared some of their character and game progression data to be imported into Destiny 2.

What is the Account and Character Migration process?

Destiny 2 will recognize and reward some of the in-game accomplishments of returning players. To enable this, all eligible Destiny accounts automatically underwent an Account and Character Migration on August 1, 2017 to import account and character data into Destiny 2.
  • Only Applies to Existing Data: Account and Character Migration will apply to all existing accounts on August 1, 2017. Any Characters created or game progress made after August 1, 2017 will not be represented in Destiny 2.
  • Automatic Process: Players are NOT required to log into their Destiny accounts on or after August 1, 2017 to complete the Account and Character Migration process.
  • Character Requirements: For a Character's game progression to be recognized in Destiny 2, the Character must have reached at least Level 20 and must not have been deleted at the time of the Account and Character Migration. 
  • Character Data in Destiny 2: To see their migrated data represented in Destiny 2, players will need to ensure that they use the same PSN or Xbox credentials when logging into Destiny 2.
  • No Expiration on Migrated Data: There is currently no time limit or expiration date on accessing Destiny account data that was migrated to Destiny 2.

What data is being imported into Destiny 2 with the Character and Account Migration?

The Account and Character Migration process will only import the following Character data into Destiny 2:
  • Character class, race, and gender selections
  • Character face, hair, and marking selections
  • Character creation date
  • An assortment of Destiny accomplishments 
Important Note: The Account and Character Migration will NOT import any items, game content, Silver, or Eververse Licenses into Destiny 2.

What Destiny 1 accomplishments will be rewarded in Destiny 2?

Destiny 2 will be able to recognize and reward a players Destiny 1 accomplishments. For an accomplishment to be recognized in Destiny 2, players must have completed the tracked accomplishments by the time of the Account and Character Migration on August 1, 2017.
The below Destiny accomplishments will provide players with Memorialization Emblems in Destiny 2 if completed before August 1, 2017:
  • Completion of one or more Year One Moments of Triumph
  • Completion of all Year One Moments of Triumph
  • Completion of one or more Year Two Moments of Triumph
  • Completion of all Year Two Moments of Triumph
  • Achieving Rank 2 or higher in the Age of Triumph Record Book
  • Achieving Rank 7 or higher in the Age of Triumph Record Book
  • Achieving a Grimoire Score of 5000 or higher

Did players need to do anything to complete the Account and Character Migration process?

No. The Account and Character Migration process happened automatically on August 1, 2017. As an automatic process, players did not need to perform any action to begin or complete the Account and Character Migration.

How do players access their migrated data in Destiny 2?

To access their migrated data, players need to ensure that they log in to Destiny 2 using the same PSN ID or Xbox Gamertag they used for their Destiny 1 account.

Will deleted character data be migrated to Destiny 2?

No. Characters that were deleted prior to the Account and Character Migration will not have their Character data imported into Destiny 2.

Will Legacy Console players have their data imported into Destiny 2 with the Account and Character Migration?

Yes. Players who are currently playing Destiny 1 on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 are required to sign in to a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One and perform an Account Import to qualify for Memorialization Emblems in Destiny 2. Accounts may only be imported to consoles within the same console family. Do Legacy Console players need to perform an Account Import to current generation consoles in order to receive Memorialization Emblems in Destiny 2?

Yes. Players who are currently playing Destiny 1 on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 are required to sign in to a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One and perform an Account Import to qualify for Memorialization Emblems in Destiny 2. Accounts may only be imported to consoles within the same console family. Will players be able to edit their migrated Character's customization options in Destiny 2?

No. There is currently no plan to allow players to edit the customization options of an imported Character.

Can players use the Account and Character Migration process to move their account from one platform to another?

No. To be able to access their migrated data, players must use the same PSN ID or Xbox Gamertag credentials to login to Destiny 2.

Can players access their Destiny 2 Emblems for Destiny accomplishments on a different console platform or on the PC platform?

No. The Destiny 2 Memorialization Emblems are tied to a player's PSN ID or Xbox Gamertag and cannot be accessed on other platforms.

Do players need to log into Destiny 1 prior to the Account Migration to have their progress imported into Destiny 2?

No. Players do NOT need to log into Destiny 1 prior to the Account and Character Migration to have their progress imported into Destiny 2.
Please Note: To have been eligible for the Age of Triumph related Destiny 2 Emblems as described above, players must have logged in and completed nodes in their Age of Triumph Record Book to reach the required ranks.

Do players have to own Destiny: The Taken King or Destiny: Rise of Iron to be eligible for the Destiny 2 Emblems? Can players earn the Emblems if they use game-sharing features?

Yes. Players must own Destiny: The Taken King to qualify for the Destiny 2 Memorialization Emblems for the Year Two Moments of Triumph and they must own Destiny: Rise of Iron to qualify for the Destiny 2 Memorialization Emblems for the Age of Triumph. Bungie cannot provide support for issues players may encounter while using a console's game-sharing features to access content for which they do not own the licenses.

Will account or character data from after August 1, 2017 be migrated to Destiny 2?

No. Only qualifying Characters that exist at the time of the Account and Character Migration on August 1, 2017 will have their data imported into Destiny 2. Any game accomplishments or qualifying content completion that occurs after that date will not be reflected in Destiny 2.

Will an account's Silver balance or Eververse purchases be included in the Account Migration?

No. The Silver balance and Eververse purchases of a player's account will not be imported into Destiny 2 by the Account Migration process.

Will any promotional items, such as the Nepal Emblem and Shader, the Blacksmith Shader, Bungie Bounty Emblem, etc., be included in the Account Migration?

No. The Account Migration process will NOT import any existing items into Destiny 2, including any existing Emblems, Shaders, Ships, Sparrows, or other collectibles.

Where can players report an issue with their Account and Character Migration?

Players that are experiencing an issue with their Account and Character Migration should post a report of the issue in the #Help forums.

 


Destiny Activities

Which Daily and Weekly Activities will still be available in Destiny? Will Destiny players still be able to participate in Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, or Live Events?

Players in Destiny will continue to have access to the following activities:
  • Weekly Heroic Missions Playlist
  • Heroic Strike Playlists, including the Weekly Vanguard Elite Bounties
  • Nightfall and Daybreak Strikes Featured Activities on rotation
  • Daily and Weekly Crucible Featured Activities, including the Weekly Crucible Bounties
  • Vault of Glass, Crota's End, King's Fall, and Wrath of the Machine Raids, Boss Challenges, and rotating Featured Raid Activities
  • Prison of Elders and Challenge of the Elders
  • Armsday Foundry Orders and Field Test Weapons
  • Xûr, Agent of the Nine 
After the end of August 2017, players in Destiny will no longer have access to the following activities:
  • Trials of Osiris
  • Iron Banner
  • Live Events

Will Destiny receive any more updates, content releases, or patches?

No. Destiny will no longer receive planned or scheduled updates, content releases, or patches.

When will the remaining Sony Exclusive Armor and Weapons be released on Xbox consoles?

The remaining Sony Exclusive Armor, Weapons, Quests, Strike, and Crucible maps will be available on Xbox One and Xbox 360 in October 2017. The list of content includes:
The following content will become available on both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 for players that own Destiny: The Taken King:
  • Jade Rabbit Exotic
  • Zen Meteor Exotic
  • Sublime Engram Armor sets for all Classes
  • "Fight Fire with Fire" Quest from Petra Venj
  • Sector 618 Crucible Map
  • Echo Chamber Strike
The following content will become available on only the Xbox One for players that own Destiny: Rise of Iron:
  • Iron Camelot Armor for all Classes from Dusty Iron Engrams
  • "Show of Strength" Quest from Tyra Karn
  • Icarus Crucible Map

Will any new items be available for purchase from the Silver Dust Kiosk?

The following items will become available in October 2017 for purchase in the Silver Dust Kiosk for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players who own Destiny: Rise of Iron
  • Chronoshot ornament for Vex Mythoclast
  • Devourer of Moons ornament for Necrochasm
  • Settled Score ornament for Touch of Malice
  • Undiscovered Country ornament for No Land Beyond
  • Basilisk's Glory ornament for the Suros Regime
  • Tigershark ornament for Dragon's Breath
  • Perfected Predator ornament for Lord of Wolves
  • Brushfire Shader
  • Barrage Shader
  • The Blast of War Shader

 


Destiny Companion

Will Destiny players be able to see their Character stats on Bungie.net or the Companion Mobile App?

No. Beginning on August 23, 2017, most Character data for Destiny players will no longer be available for viewing in the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net or from the Mobile App.

Will Destiny players be able to use the Gear Manager on the Destiny Companion to transfer items or equip gear?

No. Beginning on August 23, 2017, most Character data for Destiny players will no longer be available for viewing in the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net or from the Mobile App.

Will Destiny players still be able to create new Refer-A-Friend links?

No. Beginning on August 23, 2017, players will no longer be able to create new Refer-A-Friend links in the Destiny Companion Web or Mobile App. Players that already have an established Refer-A-Friend link will still be able to complete the in-game content to receive their Refer-A-Friend rewards.

Will the Destiny Companion API still be available for external users to access? Updated 6/23/17

After the launch of Destiny 2, the API for Destiny will continue to be available and fully functional for third-party app developers to access. The availability of the Destiny API may be subject to change based on implementation and stability.

 

What was the deadline for finishing the Age of Triumph Record Book and qualifying for the Age of Triumph T-Shirt offer?

While players have no time limit to reach Rank 7 within the Age of Triumph Record Book, players who have reached Rank 7 have until August 1, 2017 to place their T-shirt order at the Bungie Store.

 


Eververse Trading Co. and Silver

Will players still be able to purchase Silver in Destiny: Rise of Iron?

Yes, Destiny players will still be able to purchase Silver using the following methods:
  • The in-game "Buy Silver" button in the Eververse Trading Co. storefront
  • PlayStation 4 Silver Add-Ons from the PSN Store on consoles or web browsers
  • Xbox One Silver Add-Ons from the Xbox Marketplace on consoles or web browsers
  • Silver Cards purchased from retailers and redeemed using one of the platform stores

Will players still be able to purchase Eververse Items in Destiny?

Yes. Eververse Trading Co. will continue to offer Treasure of the Ages. For more information, please see the Legacy Support for Destiny 1 Silver and Eververse guide.

Can Silver be refunded or transferred to Destiny 2?

No. Silver purchased for Destiny cannot be refunded or transferred to Destiny 2 or another Destiny account. For more information, please see the Legacy Support for Destiny 1 Silver and Eververse guide.

 


Legacy Support for Destiny

Will Destiny players be able to report a bug or get help with a technical issue?

Players can report a bug by posting in the #Help forums or get help with an issue they are encountering by searching the Help Knowledge Base. While Destiny will not be receiving future game updates, Bungie will continue to monitor player reports for high impact issues.
