Commendations is a social feature that enables Guardians to express gratitude for each other, celebrating the positive emotions of completing an activity. |
Commendation Types and How To Earn Them
There are four different categories of Commendations: Ally, Leadership, Mastery, and Fun. Each category contains a set of Commendations with specific attributes such as Perceptive, Heroic, or Thoughtful.

After completing any matchmade activity, players can choose to give out Commendations to their teammates through the post-activity screen or through the activity scoreboard. Every matchmade activity has a specific set of Commendations available for players to grant, typically pulled from at least two or three of the broader categories.
Additionally, some Commendations can only be found in higher-end activities such as Trials, Grandmaster Nightfalls, or Raids.
Commendation Score
Commendation score is a rough total of all the Commendations given out and received by a player within a Season. A small portion of this accumulated score carries over from one Season to the next. This score, as well as a full collection of all the Commendations earned by a player, can be found by navigating to the Journey tab in-game.
