Clans are communities that can be accessed in-game and on Bungie.net that are created and managed by players. Clans provide many features that allow the community of players within the Clan to play and progress together, communicate, manage, and build their community. Please read below for more information on Clan features, interacting with a Clan, and the tools that are accessible to Clan Founders and Admins.
Clan Culture Features
Clans can showcase their Clan Culture in-game in Destiny 2 and in the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net and in the Mobile App.
Clan profiles will be displayed in Destiny 2 and the Destiny Companion and will serve as the main portal for interacting with a Clan.
- Clans must have at least 2 members for the Clan profile to be displayed in-game in Destiny 2 or publicly in the Destiny Companion
- Non-Clan members can view a Clan's profile by inspecting a Clan member in-game in Destiny 2
- Players can browse Clan profiles or visit their Clan profile from the Clan page in the Destiny Companion
- Players can use the Report Clan button if they encounter a Clan Profile that violates the Code of Conduct in Destiny 2 or in the Destiny Companion
Clan profiles will display the Clan Name, Motto, and Mission Statement in Destiny 2 and the Destiny Companion.
- Clan Founders and Admins (if settings permit) can edit these features from the Clan Settings page in the Destiny Companion
- The Clan Name, Motto, and Mission Statement are subject to disciplinary action if they violate the Code of Conduct
Clan profiles will display the customizable Clan Banner in Destiny 2 and the Destiny Companion.
- Clan Founders and Admins can edit the Clan Banner from the Clan Settings page in the Destiny Companion
- Clan Members will receive a Clan Banner item from Hawthorne in Destiny 2 which provides the player with Clan Perks that are unlocked as the Clan gains levels
- The Clan Banner is subject to disciplinary action if it violates the Code of Conduct
Clan profiles will display a list of Clan Members and their status in the Clan Roster in Destiny 2 and the Destiny Companion.
- The Clan Roster in the Destiny Companion will display all Clan Members regardless of platform or linked Bungie.net profiles
- Clan Members who have set their account to "Appear Offline" may continue to be displayed as online in the Clan Roster in Destiny 2 on some platforms
Clan Progression Features
Destiny 2 Clans can gain XP, level up, and earn rewards when Clan Members progress through Destiny 2 or participate as a group in end-game activities.
Players can view their Destiny 2 Clan's XP gains, individual contribution, and Clan Level from the Clan Profile in Destiny 2 and the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net or the Mobile App.
- Clan Members completing activities in Destiny 2 will contribute to their Clan XP up to a weekly maximum that resets with the Weekly Reset
- Clans must have at least 2 members to begin earning Clan XP
- Players who are members of a Clan will have access to the "Clan XP" Milestone which is a weekly Milestone that allows them to earn additional rewards
- Clan XP gain is subject to a weekly cap for both personal contributions and total Clan XP gain which refreshes at the Weekly Reset
- Players can track their weekly personal contribution to the Clan XP from the Clan Profile in-game in Destiny 2 and the Destiny Companion
- Players can track the weekly Clan XP progress from the Clan Profile in Destiny 2 and the Destiny Companion
- Clan Levels and Clan Perks reset with the Seasonal Reset
Clan Members can view the available and unlocked Clan Perks from the Clan Banner item in their Character Inventory in Destiny 2.
- Clan Perks are unlocked as the Clan gains Clan XP and reaches certain Clan Levels
- Clan Perks and Clan Levels reset with the Seasonal Reset
- Clan Members must have a Clan Banner item on their Character to receive the benefits of the unlocked Clan Perks
- Leaving a Clan or joining a different Clan will impact which unlocked Clan Perks a player has access to on their Characters
Clan Members can view the Clan's progress towards the Weekly Clan Engrams from the Clan Profile in Destiny 2 and the Destiny Companion.
- To unlock the Crucible, Nightfall, and Raid Weekly Clan Engrams, at least half of the Fireteam completing each activity must belong to the Clan
- Progress towards the Weekly Clan Engrams resets with the Weekly Reset
- Weekly Clan Engrams can only be claimed by one Character per account per week
- Players who have joined a Clan cannot receive Weekly Clan Engrams that were earned before they were a Clan Member
- Players who have left a Clan and join a new Clan or re-joined their previous Clan will be locked out of receiving Weekly Clan Engrams until the next Weekly Reset

Clan Communication Features
Clan can communicate using features available in the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net and the Mobile App.
All Clans have a default Clan text chat channel available that allows Clan members to communicate in real time.
- Clan Founders and Admins can create up to 5 additional text chat channels
- Clan Founders and Admins can set permissions for accessing each channel
- Clan Founders and Admins can disable and hide the optional chat channels, but channel deletion is currently not available
- Clan Chat channels are available in the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net and the Mobile App
Every Clan has a dedicated private forum that can be used to post messages to their community.
- Posts in the Clan Forum are always private and can only be seen by other Clan members
- Clan Forums are only available on the Destiny Companion Mobile App
Interacting with a Clan
Players have several methods of interacting with a Clan in Destiny 2 and in the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net and in the Mobile App.
Players can join or request to join Clans in Destiny 2 or from the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net and in the Mobile App.
- Players can post and browse the Recruitment Forums for potential Clans to join
- In Destiny 2, players can inspect a player to see their Clan profile
- Players can use the "Join Clan" button to request to join a Clan from the profile of the desired Clan in Destiny 2 or the Destiny Companion
- Players can only belong to one Clan on a Destiny account
- Players must have linked a platform account to their Bungie.net profile to be eligible to request to join a Clan or to receive Clan invites through the Destiny Companion
- Players can accept pending Clan invitations from the Clan menu in Destiny 2 or from the Clans page in the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net or the Mobile App
- Players who have Destiny accounts on more than one platform can have each account be in the same Clan or in different Clans
Players that are a member of a Clan can leave their Clan in Destiny 2 or through the Destiny Companion.
- Players can use the "Leave Clan" button to leave the Clan in Destiny 2 or the Destiny Companion
- Once players have confirmed the Leave Clan selection, they will be removed from the Clan membership
- Leaving a Destiny 2 Clan will impact a player's access to which unlocked Clan Perks they can access and Weekly Clan Engrams
- Clan Founders cannot leave their Clan or join another Clan until they have re-assigned Clan Founder status to another member or are the last member of the Clan

This may be due to the Clan not showing up in the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net and Mobile App. Go to our Vital Information section to learn how to resolve this issue.
Players that encounter a Clan that is violating the Code of Conduct can report the Clan in Destiny 2 or through the Destiny Companion.
- Players can use the "Report Clan" button on the Clan Profile to report Clan Names, Mottos, Mission Statements, or Clan Banners that violate the Code of Conduct
- The "Report Clan" button will notify Bungie.net moderators to review the report and take disciplinary action as needed
- Players that encounter individual Clan members who are violating the Code of Conduct or appear to be cheating or manipulating their networks should use the "Report Player" button in Destiny 2 or submit a report through the Report Suspected Cheating form
Clan Management
Clan Founders and Admins have several methods of managing their Clan in Destiny 2 and in the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net and in the Mobile App.
Players can create a new Clan in the Destiny Companion which will designate them as the Clan Founder of the newly created Clan.
- To create a Clan, players should use the "Create Clan" button on the Clans page
- During the Clan creation process, the Clan Founder can set the Clan Name, Motto, and Mission Statement
- Once the Clan is created, the Clan Founder will be able to edit the Clan Name, Motto, and Mission Statement, as well as set the Clan Banner, change the Clan settings, and other Clan management tasks
- Clans must have a total of at least 2 members for the Clan, Clan Roster, and Clan Banner to show up in Destiny 2 and for the Clan members to begin earning Clan XP
The Clan Founders and Clan Admins can access their Clan Settings page to manage their Clan in the Destiny Companion.
- Culture Fields: Edit the Clan Name, Motto, and Mission Statement
- General Settings (Clan Founder Only): Edit the permissions for Admins, Clan Join options, Guided Games participation options, New Member ranks, and Clan Language
- Edit Banner: Set the color and design of the Clan Banner
- Invitations: Review or revoke Clan invitations
- Banned: Ban or un-ban Clan members
The Clan Founder can set the clan enrollment in the Destiny Companion.
- Approval Required: If this enrollment option is chosen, players that use the request to join button will need to have their join request approved by the Clan Founder or a Clan Admin before they will be added to the Clan
- Open Membership: If this enrollment option is chosen, players that use the request to join button will automatically be accepted into the Clan
- Invite Only: If this enrollment option is chosen, the Clan Founder or Clan Admins will have to send invites to players before they can be accepted into the clan and any players that use the request to join button will receive a message that the Clan is closed to new members
- Inviting Players: Clan Founders and Clan Admins can invite players to the Clan in Destiny 2 and in the Destiny Companion
- Processing Join Requests: Clan Founders and Clan Admins can accept or deny requests to join the Clan in the Destiny Companion
- Membership Limit: Total membership for all Clans is capped at 100 Destiny accounts
- Multi-Platform Clans: Members of a Clan can be on any platform, however players that have joined the Clan on multiple platforms will have each Destiny account on a different platform count towards the 100 member limit
The Clan Founders and Clan Admins can manage the Clan roster from the Clan Settings page in the Destiny Companion.
- Clan Founders can promote members to Clan Admins or demote them
- Clan Founders can designate a Clan Admin to become the new Clan Founder
- Clan Founders can set Admin permissions and settings
- Clan Founders and Clan Admins (if settings permit) can promote or demote members to the rank of Member or Beginner
- Clan Founders and Clan Admins (if settings permit) can kick or ban Clan members
- Clan Founders and Clan Admins (if settings permit) can invite or accept pending join requests
Clan Vital Information
Please see below for a list of vital information regarding Clans.
- Clan XP Reset: Clan Members that are in an activity when the Weekly Reset occurs will encounter some discrepancies in the amount of total Clan XP earned and the personal contribution towards Clan XP for completion of that activity. If the activity completed awards a Weekly Clan Engram, the earned reward will be for the new week and not the week prior.
- Changing Clans: Players are able to request to join a new Clan while already a member of a different Clan. If the new Clan is set to the "Approval Required" enrollment option, once the join request is approved it will automatically convert into a pending invitation to the requesting player. This is to prevent the requesting player from being removed from their old Clan without notice. Please note: changing Clans may impact access to Weekly Clan Engrams and unlocked Clan Perks.
- Unable to View Clan in Destiny Companion on Bungie.net and Mobile App: Players who are in a Destiny 2 Clan but aren't able to find the Clan in the Destiny Companion on Bungie.net and Mobile App need the Founder of the Clan to log into Bungie.net on a desktop computer (NOT mobile) and go to the My Clan page. The page should automatically fix the Clan, but it may take a few refreshes of the page to properly trigger.
- User Generated Content Settings: Players may encounter blocked content in Destiny 2 Clan features due to the user generated settings on their consoles. For information on how to edit these settings, please see PlayStation Support or Xbox Support.
- Deleting a Clan: To delete a Clan, all members, including the Clan Founder and Admins, must leave or be kicked from the Clan.
- Banned From Clan: Players that have been banned from the Clan will be removed from the Clan's roster and lose their membership.
- Clan Profile Lockouts: Players can report a Clan profile for Code of Conduct violations. If Bungie.net moderators determine that disciplinary action is needed, the reported Clan may be locked out of editing their Clan profile or settings.
- Clan/Group Split: Clans and Groups functionality was split on August 23, 2017. These are now two distinct community types. For more information about Groups, please see the Bungie.net Groups Guide.
- Account Recovery: Players that have lost access to their Bungie.net profile that is a Clan Founder may be able to use the Profile Recovery process to regain access to that account.
- Clans Features in Destiny 1: Destiny 1 is no longer scheduled to receive content updates, as such the new Clan features introduced in Destiny 2 will not be available to players in Destiny 1. Players that belong to a Clan will be able to see the Clan Roster, Clan Name, and Clan Tag when playing Destiny 1 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Players that belong to a Clan will be able to see their Clan Name and Clan Tag when playing Destiny 1 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
